It’s a big day for us, as we may now finally break the news about what we’ve been working on in the MeisterLabs for the last few weeks. As of today, MindMeister is available to Google Apps users directly through the new Google Apps Marketplace, which Google announced last night!
This integration has been long in the making and we’re pretty excited about it as we think that MindMeister is a great extension to the existing array of apps in the Google suite. We certainly hope you will feel the same way, enjoying lots of productive mind mapping sessions using the Google Apps edition of MindMeister!
To get started, just add MindMeister to your Google Apps account – this takes just a few clicks and MindMeister will then be available to all team members through Google’s universal navigation. You can of course also connect existing accounts.
Google users have access to all MindMeister functions of course, plus a few more:
- Single Sign-on: Users will automatically be signed in when they open MindMeister from the Google universal navigation, and will have mind maps automatically associated to their account.
- Export to Google Docs: The MindMeister export dialog now has an additional function (and button) to export mind maps directly to your Google Docs space as PDF or image.
- Share with Google contacts: Your MindMeister app contact list is prefilled with all your Google contacts, thereby enabling one click sharing with those that you collaborate most often with.
Keeping in theme with Google’s familiar style and feel, we’ve even added a specific user interface skin to make Google users feel more at home.
Needless to say, we’re quite proud to have been hand selected by the team in Mountain View as one of initial participants in the launch of the Google Apps Marketplace. As you can imagine, there was a ton of work that went into making all of this possible. Many thanks go out to the Apps Marketplace team for their constant feedback and support. Likewise, we’ve all had our heads buried in this project for quite a few weeks now, so please forgive our uncharacteristic relative silence as of late.
Converting existing accounts
If you’re one of the overwhelming majority of MindMeister users that also uses Google Apps/Docs, you can easily add MindMeister to your existing Google account via the Marketplace, while still retaining your existing MindMeister maps, contacts, links, file attachments, etc. Check out our Google Apps help section to find out exactly how to connect your existing account.

Is it “real” application or just a fancy frontend to ajax-based touchscreen-friendly web app? If it is just ajax, i’d like to get direct access without “iphone” or “android” apps, as my phone (Nokia n900) does ajax perfectly well, but it is not Android and not iPhone..
I’m very discouraged at your pricing of two things…first, you make NO mention of cost in your email to us as subscribers and as far as I can tell it costs $$ to connect my Google Apps account to a service I’m already paying for? (Please correct me if I’m wrong).
Two, your iPhone app is ridiculous expensive. Can I afford it? Yeah, but I’ve never paid that much for an app and I’m not starting with MindMeister…
I love your service and am a paid subscriber but what’s up with the extras costing SO much extra?

Congratulations. The marriage between Google Apps and MM is a potentially huge one. But, truly, what would turn the MM app on Google into the MOST KILLER APP would be if you could take Google App items (email, calendar entries, tasks, Google docs) and bring them seamlessly into a mindmap.
To be able to take my inbox and view it as a mindmap, and to be able to attach docs, tasks and appointments. and to be able to share those maps. Wow, that would be…amazing. A whole new way to be productive.
If you ever want beta-testers for such a tool, please sign me up. That’s the tool I’ve always been waiting for.
Arkanoid, the iPhone app is really a native app but we also have a mobile front-end to MindMeister. Should work on a Nokia phone but the mapview itself is quite complex. We’re working on a lightweight mobile view as well.
Andy, if you already have a paid MindMeister account connecting with Google Apps costs nothing extra. Check out http://www.mindmeister.com/help?topic=googleapps for info on how to merge your accounts. Sorry to hear that you find the iPhone app too expensive. I’ll bring up your concerns in our next discussion.
I agree with everybody else: the pricing is just absolutely unrealistic. I would hate to have to say ‘aufwiedersehen’ to mindmeister but at these prices I am going to have to…
Michael, please read the update to the post above. The price is higher because we currently only support Business accounts on Google apps. We will add support for Premium accounts soon so you won’t have to pay extra. Hope you won’t say “auf wiedersehen” to us!

Thank you for assisting us in the Merge to our Apps Domain. Your support response was immediate. I screwed up the merge and lost my maps. You guys moved me and recovered it all. THX
In the info about the merge between MM and Google Apps it said that I would be able to easily add any of the Google Apps domain users. However, I only get at list of the contacts most often used…
Is there another way without adding the full email adress in the invite box?

When will premium members get integration with Mindmeister? Its been a month now since I signed up – Gooogle integration was one of the reasons… I hope this will get fixed soon.

I love mind meister and it has been fantastic with collaborating and running multi-level projects.
What would make it work best for me – is if you could start syncronizing google tasks/google calendar. So basically have a scheduled task manager – that links right off the mind map – mind manager has something similar I think. If you could expand your partnership with google to develop something like that and have an app for android and iphone at least that would be hugely beneficial. Anyone who’s job is in generating new ideas and turning them into clear ideas and actionable steps for others will fall in love with it. I know several serial entrepreneurs and film producers who are both gagging for something like that and end up having to use multiple – unsynchronized systems ( often stuck with lots of pads of paper and straining to remember everything. Recently they’ve fallen in love with collaborative mind maps and task managers but – one of them loves the ipad completely for this. But they still would like an all in one system rather than having to copy/paste info all the time.
