GEISTESBLITZ, (noun, m.) ['gæstes blîts]:
literally translated as mind flash, is a sudden insight or idea, often brilliant and unexpected. Consisting of the German words Geist (as in Zeitgeist) and Blitz (as in Blitzen, that lightning-fast reindeer of Santa Claus), it is probably best translated into English as brain wave or flash of genius.
Geistesblitz tools allow you to insert your ideas quickly into MindMeister. Geistesblitz comes in three different varieties:
- Geistesblitz Dashboard Widget/Sidebar Gadget
You can insert new ideas via the dashboard (MacOS) or sidebar.
- Geistesblitz Browser Extensions
You can insert new ideas via the quicksearch bar or activities in your browser.
- Geistesblitz Email
You can insert new ideas and maps via email messages.
With the Geistesblitz Widgets you can instantly add ideas directly from your desktop. Enter the idea into your widget / gadget and it will be immediately inserted into your default map.
Geistesblitz Browser Extensions
Internet Explorer and Firefox support quicksearch extensions. Normally it is used to search sites such as Google, Amazon or eBay, but we at MindMeister use it to insert Geistesblitzes.
You can also add ideas and entire maps by sending an email to a specific address.
You will then receive two email addresses (which are randomly generated and can be regenerated). By sending an email to the first address the subject of the email will be inserted into your Geistesblitzes on your default map. The body of the email will be added as note.
By sending an email to the second address you can add an entirely new map. The subject of the email will be the central topic (and map title). The content of the email will be inserted as map topics (indentation by space or tabs).
You can enable the Geistesblitz email in your Settings.Settings
