Louverture, being a former slave, rebelled in the form of setting people free and using them to protect their homeland. French was denied the area in which they planned to expand their empire, meaning they must regroup and gather supplies to fight, but not having the funds to do so. Sold land to America which in turn really helped all the countries fighting France even Haiti due to them becoming a Republic.
