3.1. The Hobbit is a novel where the main characters find themselves exploring through unfamilier land throughout the entirety of their journey.
3.1.1. They face many dangers such as hunger at poor weather.
4. Good v.s. Evil
4.1. Tolkien states the fact that certain races are good and certain are evil. He states that Elves are 'good' and Wargs are 'evil'.
4.1.1. Morality appears blantly black and white in The Hobbit.
4.1.1.1. Grey is also surprisingly common; the Dwarves seem to care more about the gold and the loot than defeating Smaug.
5. Home
5.1. The first thing we learn about Bilbo in The Hobbit is that he has a home that he is comfortable in (Elrond and Beorn also have a home). This gives Bilbo a sense of security The rest of the characters do not appear to have a home that they are comfortable in.
