2.1. Definition: Allows teachers to evaluate student performance progress before a cumulative assessment

2.2. Examples: Content Focus Assessments (CFAs) and Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)

3.1. Definition: The goal is to gain information of what the student knows and learned at the end of a unit or the year.

3.2. Examples: Six Weeks District Assessment and State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR)

4.1. Definition: Students are to show mastery of a skill and are to create their own answers rather than choose one that is already listerd

4.2. Examples: Essay questions and Prtfolios

5. 5. Diagnostic

5.1. Definition: An evaluation of what the student already knows prior to the lesson and allows the teacher to strengthen the skills the student is weaker in.

5.2. Examples: Beginning of the year MAP testing and a unit pretest
