1. 3. Summative
1.1. Definition: evaluating student's learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing the results to a standard.
1.1.1. Examples: Midterm exam or a benchmark exam
2. 4. Performance
2.1. Definition: Allows the teacher to see based on a task given, the student's ability to apply the knowledge learned from the instructional unit.
2.1.1. Examples: Group project or writing an essay
3. 5. Diagnostic
3.1. Definition: a form of assessment that gives the teacher a way to see what students' strengths, weaknesses, and knowledge prior to a lesson. It is used to guide the lesson and planning.
3.1.1. Examples: Pre/Post assessments or one minute papers (brain dump)
4. 1. Formative
4.1. Definition: monitor student learning by providing ongoing feedback that teachers can use to improve their teaching.
4.1.1. Examples: Exit tickets and one minute papers
5. 2. Interim
5.1. Definition: Periodic testing done throughout the year
5.1.1. Examples: Six weeks test, chapter test
6. H.O.T. Questions
6.1. Opening Questions:
6.1.1. Locate in your book where it tells us the chapter's setting.
6.1.2. Name the characters you read in your chapter.
6.2. Guiding Questions:
6.2.1. Compare and contrast yourself to a character in your book.
6.2.2. What does the author suggest about ___'s character?
6.3. Closing Questions:
6.3.1. What do you think will happen to ____ character in your book next? Why?
6.3.2. If you were there in your book, would you have done the same thing as your character or something different? Why?
