2. Calvin Cycle

2.1. Step 1: the enzyme RuBisCO incorporates carbon dioxide into an organic molecule

2.2. Step 2: the organic molecule is reduced

2.3. Step 3: RuBP, the molecule that starts the cycle, is regenerated so that the cycle can continue

2.4. It takes six turns of the Calvin cycle to fix six carbon atoms from CO2

4. How it affects us

4.1. Plants make oxygen so that we can breath.

4.2. Some plants (apply trees, berry bushes, etc.) provide us with food so we can survive.

5.1. Light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll, a green substance found in chloroplasts in some plant cells and algae

5.2. Absorbed light energy is used to convert carbon dioxide (from the air) and water (from the soil) into a sugar called glucose

5.3. Oxygen is released as a by-product.
