1.1. Consider what is gained and lost by using the technology.

2. Technological Literacy

2.1. Know when to and not to use technology.

2.2. "Refers to one's ability to use, manage, evaluate, and understand technology" (ITEA, 2000/2002

2.3. Knowing and understanding NOT (Nature of Technology).

3. Limits and Trade offs

3.1. Use of technology often hides misunderstandings and interferes with learning and teaching.

3.2. Take both pros and cons into account. What do you gain or lose by using technology?

3.3. Can be a distraction in certain environments.

4. Value laden

4.1. Positive and negative impacts on our values individually and as a society.

4.2. Make sure sources are accurate and reliable.

5. NOT and decision making

5.1. Technology cannot solve everything

5.2. Technology is not perfect so there will be some issues/problems along the way, but you need to be able to work around them

5.3. Know the appropriate time and setting to use technology.

6. Cognitive Learning Theory

6.1. Use technology that will engage and interest students. Use technology that will deepen students' learning and understanding.

6.2. Technology has not completely revolutionized education yet the way it was predicted to.
