Red Blood Cell (RBC) or Erythrocyte

1. Hematocrit : is the volume percentage (vol%) of red blood cells in blood
1.1. (low )hematocrit may suggest anemia, a decrease in the total amount of red blood cell
1.2. Normally 40% for men and 31% for women
1.3. (high) in the total amount of red blood cell hematocrit is called polycythemia.
2. Characteristics:- 1/ Disc-shaped 2/ Normal size ‘normocytic’ 3/ Contain sufficient hemoglobin 4/ life span 120 days
2.1. After 120 days (BRC) can not work their way through ( spleen) due to lose of flixibilty
2.2. Hemoglobin ind to Oxygen and Carbon dioxide and also give RBC red color.
