The Analytic Hierarchy Process by Mind Map: The Analytic Hierarchy Process

1. Using AHP in solving a decision problem

1.1. Step 1: Setting up the decision hier- archy by breaking down the decision problem into a hierarchy of interrelated decision elements.

1.1.1. This step is one of the most important because the best decision (or selecting the best alternative). The lower levels of the hierarchy contain attributes (objectives).

1.1.1.1. The number of levels depends on the complexity of the problem and on the degree of detail the analyst requires to solve the problem.

1.2. 2: Collecting input data by pairwise comparisons of decision elements.

1.2.1. the input data for the problem consists of matrices of pairwise comparisons of elements of one level that contribute to achieving (or satisfying) the objectives of the next higher level.

1.3. 3: Using the "eigenvalue" method to estimate the relative weights of decision elements.

1.3.1. the solution technique of the AHP takes in as input the above pairwise comparisons and produces the relative weights of elements at each level as output.

1.4. 4: Aggregating the relative weights of decision elements to arrive at a set of ratings for the decision alternatives.

1.4.1. Aggregation of Relative Weights of Various Eevels into Composite Relative Weights:
