Hyperparathyroidism

1. Treatment: most effective is surgery (removal of parathyroid glands) .

2. Diagnosis:

2.1. Routine blood test

2.1.1. Determines blood Ca levels

3. Symptoms: body aches, bone pain, memory loss, depression, fatigue.

3.1. if left untreated:

3.1.1. Could cause Can lead to osteoporosis, kidney failure, high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia.

3.1.2. diagnosed with ultrasound and further blood test.

4. Pathology: over active parathyroid glands. caused by usually benign tumor over one of the glands. produces over active hormone production.

4.1. causes PTH to take calcium from bone and dump it into the blood.
