1. Goals and vision: Crossroads Children’s Centre provides children and families with a wide range of mental health services and supports in the home, school and community. They are committed to a child-centered and family-focused approach in the delivery of all our services.
2. Address equity, inclusion and awareness of cultural diversity: Their services are responsive to all cultural, racial and ethnic interests. Diversity is valued and acknowledged.
3. School Program: Treatment for children who need additional skills to function successfully in a regular school setting. Each child is assigned a primary case worker. Depending on the child’s needs, staff will help him or her to develop social skills, manage problem behaviour or learn how to solve problems, and/or provide more intensive treatment for serious anxiety and other mental health problems. Caregiver skills training or family therapy may be combined with this program.
4. Under Six Program provides home-based services to families and their children under age six, whose mental health and behavioural needs put them at risk for the development of future problem behaviours.
5. How to access services: Contact Crossroad and choose an appointment to meet with a mental health professional. This is typically a phone meeting where the Crossroads worker can: · Find out about the mental health problem that you are concerned about. · Provide you with enough information to make an informed choice about what to do next. · Explain the variety of services and interventions available. · Work together to develop a Choice Point.
