Community Helpers

1. Art
1.1. 1. Students will create a drawing of their favorite community helper and share their drawing with the class.
1.2. 2. In groups, students will choose one community helper and act out a scene of how they help people in the community.
2. Writing
2.1. 1. Volunteers will come in and speak about their profession as a community helper.
2.2. 2. Students will get into groups and write a thank you card to a community helper in our area.
3. Vocabulary
3.1. 1. As a whole group, our class will create an anchor chart. It will include pictures and descriptions of community helpers and how they help us.
4. Math
4.1. 1. Count the community helper materials and write the number next to the material
4.2. 2. Roll the community helper dice and color in the graph with the corresponding community helper.
5. Literacy
5.1. 1. Pick a dentist card, identify the letter and trace the letter on the matching tooth.
5.2. 2. Complete the emergent readers community helpers flipbook.
6. Science
6.1. 1. Students will explore how firefighters put out fires and complete an experiment.
