1. vertex of parabola-the lowest or highest point. Example- the red dot displayed in the picture is the vertex of parabola.

2. imaginary number- the square root of a negative number, written in the form bi,where be is a real number amd i is the imaginary unit. square root -1. Example-shown in picture.

3. quadratic regression- a statistical method used to fit a quadratic model to a given data set. Example-shown in picture

4. vertex form- vertex form of a quadratic function is f(x)=a(x-h)^2 +k. Example- y=2x^2-4x+5.

5. complex number- any number that cant be written as a + bi, where a and b are real number and i =sqaure root -1. Example- -3.5+2i

6. axis of symmetry- is a vertical line that divides the parabola into two congruent halves. Example- shown in the picture.

7. zero of an function- for the function f,any number x such that f(x)=0. Example- y=x^2-2x-3. check: y=(-1)^2-2(-1)-3=1+2-3=0.

8. binomial-a polynomial with two terms. Example- 5x-1.

9. quadratic function- is a function that can be written in the form f(x)= a(x-h)^2 + k=0. example: ax^2+bx+c=0.

10. parabola- graph of the parent function is a u shaped curve. Example:shown in picture.

11. complex conjugate- the complex conjugate of any complex number a+bi. Example-3+4i=3-41

12. discriminant- the discriminant of the quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0. Example- shown in the picture.

13. minimum value- the y-value,smallest value of a function. Example- minimum is the u shaped one shown in the picture

14. rot of an equation-any value variable that makes an equation true. Example- shown in the picture.

15. trinomial- a polynomial with three terms. Example- 2x + 2x+1
