Fostering Social Relationships in the classroom

1. Teach social skills early on, preferably at a young age and also at the start of the school year.
2. Engage students in collaboration and group work
3. Teach students to be empathetic
4. Create a sense of community in the classroom so everyone feels like they belong
5. Teach the importance of having respect for one another. Not just to have respect for the teacher.
6. Take the time to learn about students' interest.
7. Listen when others are talking.
8. Teach students to value each other's differences
