1.1. Ancient Civilization discovered Magnetite (Fe3O4)

1.2. Sailors used it for navigation. Called them Lodestone.

1.3. Caused from certain properties w/in an atom.

1.3.1. Substance grouped in opp. pairs = nonmagnetic.

1.3.2. Substances not fully paired --> no cancellation = magnetic domains.
