7.1. What is a wildfire?

7.1.1. A wildfire or wildland fire is a fire in an area of combustible vegetation occurring in rural areas. Wildfires can also be called forest fires it just depends on the area where the fire occurs.

8. What Causes This Severe Weather

8.1. The cause of fires is commonly caused by humans. Some ways wildfires can be started is by: arson, discarded cigarettes, power lines, and sparks from equipment. The cause of ignition of wildfires depends on the physical properties of the area, is there combustible material present, and the effect of weather is important.

9. What Does This Severe Weather Affect?

9.1. Wildfires can damage the land (the soil), the plant life (trees, flowers, weeds, grass etc.), the animals, people in surrounding areas. When a wildfire occurs there can be significant damage. People in other provinces might get smoke from the fire, so it can affect the whole country of Canada.
