PKIS is the Pre-K Information System. This system creates a SASID ID number for all children in state funded preschool slots. As a provider you are responsible for entering all new children children into the system, and exiting children from you program roster as they leave.

A note from your PKIS Consultant at the State Department of Education:

\r\n

Dear Pre-school providers, the pre-certification phase of the October 2011 PKIS data collection will begin on October 1. If you have already updated your roster to reflect who will be there on the Oct. 1 snapshot date, then you merely need to Pre-certify at any time during the pre-certification period. If you still have students to exit and students to enroll, please do so at your earliest convenience, then Pre-certify during this period.

Three quick items:

\r\n

1. Please remember that when you are enrolling a child, and you search for that child in PKIS under the Enroll Child function, if a match comes up with the same name and birthday, please Select that child and enroll her in your site. 95 times out of 100, it will be the child you wish to enroll.

\r\n

2. Please remember that, in order to keep a Private Pay or Care4Kids child in your PKIS roster, you must get a parent to sign the Parental Waiver form, available for download on the Help tab. Keep the waiver in your files.
