Medical Sterilizer (Autoclave) by Mind Map: Medical Sterilizer (Autoclave)

1. Pressure Range

1.1. 0-50 PSIA

1.1.1. PSIA: PSI Absolute. It refers to pressure in a perfect vacuum.

2. Accuracy

2.1. +/= 1% FS - Accuracy is specified for room temperature only.

2.2. FS: Femtosecond for electric conductance

3. Compatibility

3.1. High pressure steam and biological contaminants

4. Electrical Output

4.1. Case of current: 3 - 15 mA

4.2. Case of voltage: 1) 0-5VDC 2) 0-10VDC 3) 1-5VDC 4) 0.5-5.5VDC

5. Process of Medical Sterilizer

5.1. Steam sterilizers use high quality saturated steam at high pressure to sterilize medical instruments such as scalpel blades and hypodermic needles. Different sterilization cycles are used, each tailored to the objects being sterilized.

5.1.1. During a typical sterilization cycle: 1) Air is removed from the sterilization chamber 2) Steam at high pressure and high temperature is injected into the chamber 3) Sterilization occurs between 250°F and 275°F for 3-30 minutes based on sterilized objects 4) Equipment is dried at high temperature for approximately 20 minutes

6. The Role of Pressure Transducers

6.1. Hospital steam sterilizers in medical applications require that pressure transducers be compatible with high pressure steam and biological contaminants. Pressure transducers monitor the pressure inside the sterilization chamber for regulation of steam quality.

6.1.1. Pressure transducers used for hospital steam sterilizers must also: - Measure and control superheated steam - Monitor steam source pressure - Monitor and control sterilization chamber pressure
