CVI

Chronic Venous insufficiency CVI is the most frequent cause of leg pain and swelling as well, and is usually associated with varicose veins.
This happens when the veins valves do not perform correctly, and the circulation of blood in the leg veins is affected and impaired.
Damaged valves in the veins or vein blockage can cause CVI, as a result of either DVT or blood clots in the deep veins within the legs.

DVT

In Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), a clot develops in a deep vein of the limb, this can be in the leg which is most common, as well as the arm or pelvis
When in the leg swelling occurs and becomes very painful tolerate at times.
It is pertinent and urgent that DVT is treated right away.
The effects of a DVT can affect the deep veins of the legs and cause damage by the thrombosis and may not work normally after a DVT.
The cause of DVT has been categorized into (3) categories according to Triad of Virchow. Virchow’s Triad includes (1) venous stasis, which occur in immobile, age, and heart failure, (2) venous endothelium damage such as trauma IV medications, and (3) Hypercoagulable states including genetic, pregnancy, birth control/ hormone replacement therapy, orthopedic trauma, surgery especially of the pelvis, hip, or legs.
