1. There was a lot of sadness present because boys and girls did not have their fathers and wives did not have their husbands.

2. Because of the stress on families at this time the divorce rate went up as families began to split.

3. Many families felt as if they were living in fear, they would either not have work, lose their husbands and fathers or lose their home.

4. More than 200,000 men were killed during WW2. Families lost their husbands and their fathers.

5. Labor shortages were present during this time which made it hard for families to find work to support their family.

6. Women had to work because their husbands were at war. During this time women didn't usually work so they were having to work and leave their children.
