1. Social Studies Concepts: 1. Look at what World War II was and who fought in it. 2. Look at a timeline of events from the time of the appointment of Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany to the liberation of conectration camps. 3. Research about the Jews and Germans during the Holocaust. 4. Look at what went on in the concentration camps. 5. Look at where different people lived during the Holocaust. 6. Research and lok at what went on in Berlin and Polond during the Holocaust. 7. Read letters and diaries of those experiencing the Holocaust. 8. Look at where a lot of people tried moving to during the Holocaust, looking at the maps.
2. Read Other Books: Read Behind the Curtain, Then, Torn Thread, Run Boy Run, and and Annexed.
3. Language Arts Concepts: 1. Compare and Contrast Bruno to Gretel using a venn Diagram. 2. Writing a letter from Bruno to his friends back in Berlin. 3. Look at the different themes found in the book. 4. Answer some journal responses. 5. Have some discussion questions = group discussions and class discussions. 6. Do some analyzing such as analyzing the end of the book. 7. Look at the character traits.
4. Math Concepts: 1. Research the economics during the Holocaust. How much did things cost back during that time period? Creat a budget that you and your family would have to follow.
5. Science concepts: 1. In the book, Bruno,creates a swing, with a tyre, and some rope on the branches of a tree. If you were Bruno, what would you have created, do you think you would have created a swing just as Bruno did? Or would you think of something else to create? 2. Take a look at some of the scientists during the Holocaust.
