Computer by Mind Map: Computer

1. ● Computers help in the automation and contro

2. ● Computers calculate and process information quickly

3. ● Computers calculate and process information more accurate than human

4. ● Computers stores massive amount of information

5. Data representation

5.1. • the computer uses the Binary Digit System that consists of 1s and 0s. 1 or 0 value is called a “Bit”.

5.2. ● Every alphabetic character, number or a symbol is represented using a set of eight bits (referred to as a Byte)

5.3. •There are several character encoding schemes, the most popular are:

5.3.1. ○ ASCII Code: Abbreviated from American Standard Code for Information Interchange, which is one of the most popular character encoding schemes.

5.3.2. ○ Unicode: Abbreviated from Universal Coded Character Set, which is a character encoding scheme that supports more characters.

6. Data and information

6.1. ● Data: (refer to raw or unorganized information) a representation of facts, concepts, or instructions, which should be suitable for processing by computer.

6.2. ● Information: (refer to processed data) is organized or classified data, which has some meaningful values for the receiver.

7. Data processing cycle

7.1. Data processing cycle is a sequence of steps or operations for processing data. processing raw data into information.

7.1.1. Input – The raw data after collection needs to be fed in the cycle for processing. This is considered the first step and called input.

7.1.2. Processing – Once the input is provided the raw data is processed by a suitable or selected processing method.

7.1.3. Output – This is the outcome and the raw data provided in the first stage is now “processed” and the data is useful and provides information and no longer called data

7.1.4. New Topic

7.1.5. Storage - Storage is a location which data, instruction and information are held for future use. Every computer uses storage to hold system software and application softwar

8. features

8.1. ● Computers enhance communication and availability of information.

8.2. ● Information: (refer to processed data) is organized or classified data, which has some meaningful values for the receiver.

9. Components

9.1. A computer is made up of multiple parts and components that facilitate user functionality

9.1.1. Software: collections of computer data and instructions. That includes operating system (OS) and software applications

9.1.2. Hardware: physical parts like processor, memory, storage, communication ports, and peripheral devices

10. Definition

10.1. Is an electronic machine.

10.2. •solve problems. •store. •Process. •retrieve. •calculations faster and efficiently.
