1. Pediatrics systems of Practive
1.1. Early Intenvention birth to 3 years guided by IFSP (individualized family service plan)
1.2. School Setting: 3 -21 years: Follow Least restrictive environment. Guided by IEP or 504 plan.
1.3. Private Practice setting guided by insurance reimbursment guidlines
2. Service delivery Models
2.1. Direct services: working with clients in one on one or group setting.
2.2. Monitoring services: creating programs for the child that another parent/teacher/caregiver will carry out.
2.3. Consultation services: giving advice, problem solving, and educating to parents, teachers, caregivers, aides, counselors ect.
3. Sensory terminology
3.1. Sensory registration: process by which children respond or attend to sensory input in their environments
3.2. Sensory Modulation: process in which the brain is taking in all of the various types of sensory input and messages and sorting it all out.
3.3. Sensory descrimination: discrimination is the brain’s ability to interpret information and disregards irrelevant information. A disorder of discrimination means the brain sometimes jumbles or confuses environmental stimuli
4. Sensory systems
4.1. Olfactory: how the body interprets smells
4.2. Vision: provides information about the environment and allows the to orient themselves.
4.3. Auditory: interprets sound information from the environment.
4.4. Tactile: ability to interpret sensation such as pain, temperature, touch or pressure recieved through the skin.
4.5. Vestibular system: provides information about the bodys movement through space in order to keep the body upright and balanced during movement
4.6. Proprioceptive: provides information about body position and movement from muscles and joints to coordinate/organize purposeful movement.
