1.3. Choose one scene to deconstruct- not ‘Ad Astra’

1.4. Edit your chosen scene. Label camera angles, shot size, and camera movement. Explain how the director is achieving their desired impact. Total analysis video should be between 3 to 5 minutes. Share work following class.

2. General understanding: 12 students answered most of the questions correctly by recalling the types of camera angles and an understanding of the basic purpose of most of the camera angles.

2.1. Shooting Mix and Match In pairs, choose a camera angle, shot size, and camera movement to get as many 5 second shots as possible. Choose 3 to 5 shots. Edit clips into one video file. For each clip, label the angle, shot size, and movement. Explain how these techniques affect the viewer and why. Total video should be between 3 to 5 minutes. Share work following class.

3. Basic understanding 5 students struggled to identify the names of the camera angles and had limited understanding of the purpose of each angle.

3.1. Review and Glue Review information with cut outs of images, camera angle, shot size, and camera movement names, and meaning of each angle, size, movement. Students match image, name, and description, review as a group, and glue boxes into a grid. Peer Quiz Students then quiz one another using the created grid handout. Photo Exploration Take photos and video for each camera angle, shot size, and camera movement. Emotion Change Each student is then given 2 emotions/feelings that they convey with camera angle, shot size, and camera movement. Once each emotion is filmed separately, reshoot to for a continual shot that shifts from the first emotion to the second emotion. Edit shot with voice and text explaining how emotion is created for the viewer. Share work following class.
