1. Career Services

1.1. The career services department is an absolute wonderful asset. There, they help you find the job that you want. Career services helps students get in contact with possible future employers as well as precious alumni. Among other things, career services will help you locate internships, as well as work experiences to coordinate with your current studies. Even after you graduate from Baker, you can come back for help with things regarding cover letters, possible mock interviews, and resumes. There are many qualified workers within the career center to coordinate with your needs.

2. Reflection

2.1. For this assignment, I decided to research the professional group called the Academy of Human Resource Development of otherwise known as AHRD. Through this organization, they promote "the study of human resource development theories, processes, and practices." I am glad we did this assignment because I now have a better understanding of professional organizations as well as their purpose. I will soon be starting an internship with Fields and I believe this organization could play a key role in developing more tools for my career. This assignment really was eye opening to see the true value of networking. The definition of networking speaks for itself. Networking is "the action or process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts." The more relationships you can build throughout your professional career, the more successful you will be. That is my number one takeaway from this project.

3. Professional Group

3.1. The Academy of Human Resources Development is for a group of human resource professionals who are "interested in furthering their HR knowledge and keeping up to date with the latest industry trends." AHRD promotes "the study of human resource development theories, processes, and practices." Frequently, AHRD will send out educational resources with invitations to various networking opportunities. Members will pay either $130 (students) or $220 (individuals) per year. In return, they will receive resources, publications, conference invites, award opportunities, as well as faculty mentoring projects.
