1. Job Analysis A job analysis is a process used to collect information about the duties, responsibilities, necessary skills, outcomes. Reviewing the job responsibilities of current employees. It is critical that you ask the actual employees who are doing the job what they do every day on the job. Frequently, HR and management (especially senior management) have no idea what encompasses the day to day functions of any particular job.

1.1. Testing Candidates Employment tests usually are standardized devices designed to measure skills, intellect, personality or other characteristics, and they yield a score, rating, description or category. Cognitive ability tests measure intelligence. The most common types, IQ tests, measure general mental ability. Other tests gauge verbal ability, math skills, spatial perception, or inductive and deductive reasoning.

1.1.1. Interview process The interview process is a multi-stage process for hiring new employees. The interview process typically includes the following steps: writing a job description, posting a job, scheduling interviews, conducting preliminary interviews, conducting in-person interviews, following up with candidates and making a hire.

1.1.1.1. Background Checks An employee background check is a review of a person's commercial, criminal, employment, and/or financial records. Many employers conduct background checks on job candidates. Some employers conduct checks after they have hired an employee.

1.2. Physical ability tests measure strength, endurance and muscular movement.

1.3. Aptitude tests measure an applicant's ability to learn a new skill.
