Teratomas

1. 3.5% account for head & neck
2. come from pluripotential cells/contain elements of germ cells
3. present as firm neck masses
4. most common @ birth or w/in 1st few weeks
5. risk: resp. compromise/dysphagia
6. can compress esophagus=disrupt deglutition(swallowing)
7. CT/MRI-is heterogeneous. Calcifications
8. Treatment=surgical
