Torticollis aka "wry neck"

1. Family Hx: spasmodic torticollis or cervical dystonia
1.1. initially spasmodic
1.2. Begins 31-50 y/o
1.3. May become permanent if untreated
2. Newborn/infants
2.1. congenital or childbirth
2.2. Congenital Muscular Torticollis (CMT)
2.2.1. most common cause
2.2.2. postural deformity presenting @ birth that results from shortening of scarring (fibrosis) of the SCM muscle on one side
3. Signs:
3.1. Turned neck
3.1.1. may have pain
3.2. eye deviation
3.2.1. Oculogyric crisis
3.3. Protrusion of tongue
3.3.1. Buccolingual crisis
