1. Legislative

1.1. 2 chambers:

1.1.1. House of Representatives and the senate House requirements: at least 35, be a citizen of the US for the past 7 years, at the time, live in the state you’re representing. House of Representatives term is 2 years Currently 435 members of the house Senate requirements: at least 30 years old, citizen for the past 9 years, and live in state you’re representing Senate term is 6 years Currently 100 senators

1.2. Powers:

1.2.1. Powers: makes all laws, declares war, regulates interstate and foreign commerce and controls taxing and spending policies.

1.3. Implied powers and the elastic clause: powers not explicitly named in the Constitution but assumed to exist due to their being necessary to implement the expressed powers that are named in Article I

1.3.1. Expressed powers and Enumerated powers: They are power directly stated in the constitution Expressed powers include the power to tax, to borrow money, to regulate commerce and currency, to declare war, and to raise armies and maintain the navy. These powers give Congress the authority to set policy on the most basic matters of war and peace.

2. Judicial

2.1. Requirements to be in the Supreme Court: at least 30 years old, licensed to practice law, US citizen for 15 years, and a qualified voter of the state for nine years preceding selection.

2.1.1. The president appoints people to be in the Supreme Court and they get approved by the branches

2.2. There are 9 justices on the Supreme Court

2.2.1. Chief Justice is the title of the head justice They can serve 16 years

2.2.2. Powers: judicial review, or the ability of the Court to declare a Legislative or Executive act in violation of the Constitution, is not found within the text of the Constitution itself.

3. Executive

3.1. Vice President and President requirements: at least 35 years old, resident of the US for 14 years and natural born citizen of the US

3.2. Vice Presidents term is 4 years long but the advice President gets indirectly appointed by the president

3.2.1. The presidents term is 4 years and the limit is 8 years

3.3. Powers: Being able to veto, or reject, a proposal for a law. Appoint federal posts, such as members of government agencies. Negotiate foreign treaties with other countries. Appoint federal judges. Grant pardons, or forgiveness, for a crime.

3.3.1. Presidents roles: Has to enforce laws and he is the head of state and commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

3.4. There are 15 executive departments named the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs
