1. 1. Develop clear comms objectives for each domain - what are we trying to deliver, how does it link to our strategic plan, how will we be able to measure it?

2. 2. Create a brand statement, choose a figurehead and develop key messages for each domain.

3. 5. Identify domain-specific target audiences plus wider key stakeholder lists then map/prioritise to inform the activity plan. Highlight which stakeholders need managing closely, which relationships are established and which need more investment.

4. 4. Choose the most appropriate & effective tested channels and standardise these across each domain area where possible.

5. 3. Identify/organise key events and plot these with relevant campaign plans where appropriate.

6. 6. Use all of this information to create a cohesive comms matrix for each domain, featuring standardised, tailored versions of the brand statement, stakeholder map, channel matrix and corresponding operational activity plans, standardising the approach across each of the six domain areas.

7. 7. Collaborate with marketing/internal comms to increase co-ordination, visibility, understanding and stakeholder satisfaction.

8. 8. Measure the outputs & outcomes of the domain activity plans, linking back to the domain comms objectives and wider business strategy. Report to appropriate committees, boards or other and continue to benchmark progress against results.
