1.1. Basal Cell Carcinoma

1.1.1. Site : - Skin ( upper part of face ) , neck , back , hands

1.1.2. Gross : - Red nodular - Ulcer ( inverted edge / fixed base / necrotic floor )

1.1.3. Microscopic : - Basaloid masses -Peripheral ballisading - Surrrounded by stroma - Melanin pigment

1.1.4. Complications : - locally invasive - 2ry infection --> lymphadenitis

2. Malignant tumors

2.1. Squamous cell carcinoma

2.1.1. Site : Stratified squamous epithelium

2.1.2. Gross : - Fungating - Ulcer ( everted edge / necrotic floor / fixed base )

2.1.3. Microscopic : - Masses of malignant stratified squamous epithelium - Variable in size , shape - Keratinized nests - separated by stroma

2.2. Carcinoma In Situ

2.2.1. Site : - Glandular , surface epithilium

2.2.2. Gross : - irregular ill defined in solid organs - Surface epithelium - ulcer - fung - Thickened

2.2.3. Microscopic : - Anaplasia - Loss of polarity - Intact BM

2.2.4. Complications : - Invasive carcinoma

2.3. Glandular carcinoma

2.3.1. Site : Glands

2.3.1.1. Adenocarcinoma

2.3.1.1.1. well differentiated ( malignant acini + stroma )

2.3.1.1.2. Poorly differentiated ( malignant cells + less acini )

2.3.1.2. Mucoid

2.3.1.2.1. Extracellular mucin lakes , malignant glands e.g : Colorectal carcinoma

2.3.1.3. Signet Ring

2.3.1.3.1. Adenocarcinoma with intracellular mucin e.g. : Gastric carcinoma , krukenberg

3. Benign tumors

3.1. Papilloma

3.1.1. Site : - Surface epithelium

3.1.2. Gross : - Papillae ( sessile / pedunclated ) - Single or Multiple branching

3.1.3. Microscopic : - Core :- Fibrous / vascular - Covered by : ( squamous - columnar - transitional ) epithelium

3.1.4. Complications : - Ulceration :- - Bleeding - 2ry bacterial infection

3.2. Adenoma

3.2.1. Site : - Glandular epithelium in ( glands - GIT )

3.2.2. Gross : - Capsulated - Well defined in solid organs - Polyp in GIT - Cystic containing secretion - Papillary cystic

3.2.3. Microscopic : - Glandular tissue - Stroma

3.2.4. Complications : - Malignant transformation - Compression / obstruction - secretion of hormones
