Supply Chain Management Practice by Mind Map: Supply Chain Management Practice

1. SCM is considered as a multidisciplinary field that has been explored from many different perspectives

2. The concept of SCM has been considered from two alternative perspectives that include: purchasing and supply management

3. The seven SCMPs considered in this study

3.1. i.e. supplier collaboration

3.2. flexibility

3.3. usage of internet

3.4. customer focus (CF)

3.5. lean production (LP)

3.6. internal integration (II)

3.7. Quality Management (QM)

4. The main goal of SCM concept is to enhance the long-term competitive firms’ performance and their supply chains by integrating their functions, processes, and operations internally and externally with other partners. These partners mainly include the suppliers, manufacturers, distributers and customers

5. * Supplier Collaboration (SCMP/SC) * Flexibility with Partners (SCMP/FwP) * Usage of Internet (SCMP/UI) * Customer Focus (SCMP/CF) * Lean Production (SCMP/LP) * Internal Integration (SCMP/II) * Quality Management (SCMP/QM)

5.1. Gulf Manufacturing Firm Performance (GMFP) • Market Share Performance (GMFP/MSP) • Financial Performance (GMFP/FP)

5.1.1. High-Performing Gulf Manufacturing Firms (HPGMFs) Best Supply Chain Management Practices (BSCMPs)

5.1.2. Low-Performing Gulf Manufacturing Firms (LPGMFs)

6. MFs’ Performance (MFP)

6.1. It is essential to align operations, such as those of supply chains, to financial metrics

7. Relationship between SCMP and MFP

7.1. Wu et al. (2006) stated that higher levels of SCM capabilities (i.e. responsiveness, coordination and inter firm activity integration, etc.) can potentially improve a firm’s market and financial performance

8. Relationship between high-performing manufacturing firms and best supply chain management practices

8.1. Significant research effort has been paid to identify the best SCMPs to support firms and achieve a high level of performance

9. Research methodology

9.1. Questionnaire design

9.1.1. A web-survey was developed based on the SCM literature and consisted of three main parts. 1. comprised of respondent’s profile, SCM practices and GMFP 2. asked the respondents to rank the degree of using important 23 SCMPs grouped in seven categories (SC, FwP, UoI, CF, LP, II and QM) 3. the respondents were asked to rank their firms’ performance based on seven market share and financial performance items (GMFP/MSP1, GMFP/MSP3, GMFP/MSP4, GMFP/FP2 and GMFP/FP5-FP7) previously established as important

9.2. Data collection, population and sampling

9.3. Measure refinement and validation

9.3.1. Assessment of reliability

9.3.2. Assessment of validity

9.4. Data analysis
