5.1. The Decline (1066 - 1204)

5.2. The Ascent (1204 - 1348)
5.2.1. *Decline of French, increase in English. *Growing communication of English speakers. *By 13th and 14th English had become the new meduim of instruction.
5.3. The Triumphant (1348 - 1509)
5.3.1. *The Black Death (1348 - 1351) 1/3 of England people die, increase of English, the language of working class. *The Hundread Years War (1337 - 1453) Led to a loss of continental holdings to which then English had no longer reasons for learning and using French.
