1. Simple Past

1.1. We use the simple past to indicate exactly when an action or event took place in the past

1.1.1. I drank a German beer yesterday.

1.1.2. The train arrived a few minutes ago.

2. Past Progressive

2.1. is used to talk about an activity that was in progress at a specific point of time in the past

2.1.1. I was sweeping the floor yesterday afternoon.

2.1.2. The kids were playing video games all the morning.

3. Past Perfect

3.1. describes completed events that took place in the past before another past event.

3.1.1. By 6:00 pm, Tom had finished his homework.

3.1.2. When my mom arrived, I had already washed the dishes.

4. Past Perfect Progressive

4.1. Is used to emphasize the duration of an action that was completed before another action or event in the past

4.1.1. By the time John finished his report, his boss had been waiting for him for 2 hours.

4.1.2. When the play started, Michael had been memorizing his lines in the theater.

5. The Future

5.1. Will and be + going + to are often used to describe future actions

5.1.1. Dan's going to take the order over to the customer.

5.1.2. I'll drive you to your lesson at 4 pm.

6. Future Perfect

6.1. is used to describe an event or action that will be completed before another event or time in the future.

6.1.1. By 8:00 pm, I will have worked out at the gym.

6.1.2. By 2030, my daughter will have graduated.

7. Simple Present Tense

7.1. Expresses a habit or often repeated action

7.1.1. I have a pink car.

7.1.2. She likes modern art

8. Present Progressive

8.1. Describe an action that is occurring right now

8.1.1. My sister is working at the factory at the moment.

8.1.2. I am traveling to Miami this weekend.

9. Present Perfect

9.1. is used to talk about an event that began in the past and continues up to the present.

9.1.1. The actress has won several awards this year.

9.1.2. I haven’t seen the new documentary on Discovery Channel.

10. Present Perfect Progressive

10.1. used to describe the duration of an action that began in the past and continues into the present.

10.1.1. I have been studying for my Math exam lately.

10.1.2. Doris has been preparing her presentation all this week.

11. The Future Progressive

11.1. is used to describe an event or action that will occur over a period of time at a specific point in the future

11.1.1. I will be enjoying the concert tonight.

11.1.2. You will be getting married next Saturday.

12. Future Perfect Progressive

12.1. This tense describes an action that has been in progress for a duration of time before another event or time in the future

12.1.1. By 11:00 pm, I will have been watching all the episodes of my favorite tv show.

12.1.2. By the time you pick me up at the school, I will have been talking to the principal.
