Filipino games and real life issues by Mind Map: Filipino games and real life issues

1. BANGSAK

1.1. EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLINGS

1.2. A game that seems so innocent, but happens in real life. Ever since the Duterte administration, his plans was to eliminate the number of people using drugs. The innocent people were gunned down and accused even without enough evidences.

1.3. "Shoot to kill", this was one of the few statements made by the president recently. This affects those people who are apparently "violating the lockdown guidelines and causing trouble".

1.4. Solution : Shoot to kill is inhumane, thus there should be a judicial process that one must go through before the government decides on a verdict.

2. ICE - ICE WATER

2.1. NO WORK, NO PAY

2.2. With regards to our situation, a lot of Filipino workers have their jobs on hold due to the work from home policy. The game's mechanics can be compared to the issue No Work, No Pay. For an individual to survive, they must be strategic to avoid being the "it", or suffer from hunger.

2.3. Solution : Although the government and the LGU's are providing "ayuda" to families, companies should still give their employees their monthly salary as well as provide allowance.

2.4. Solution : The people should also be resourceful and engage in online selling.

3. TOM SAWYER

3.1. KALIWA DAM

3.2. The mechanics of Tom Sawyer involves two teams. There is a bridge then the opposing team will attempt to destroy it. This is comparable to the issue on Kaliwa Dam. The government wants to build a dam in order to reduce the total dependence on Angat Dam and serve as a solution to the recurring problem of water shortage.

3.3. The mechanics and the issue has similarities. The two teams are the IP's and the opponent team is the government. The IP's are trying to protect their land whereas the government is planning on destroying it and use it as a solution for the problem.

3.4. Solution : A possible solution is that the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) should find other alternatives of water sources in order to resolve the water shortage issue.

4. BENTE UNO

4.1. CORONA VIRUS

4.2. The mechanics of the game is closely similar to that of the corona virus. Hiding is parallel to us experiencing a community enhanced quarantine. If we fail to keep ourselves safe, we have the possibility of being the "it".

4.3. Have we flattened the curve to shift into a GCQ or MECQ? No, but the government officials chose to disregard this fact. This is similar to how the game works, keeping yourself safe for too long or too far is tagged as corny. In real life situations, this is tagged as bad for our economy.

4.4. Solution : The government must center on the main issue at hand instead of distracting us with other issues not relevant. Mass Testing is what we need, and not settle for the "new normal".

5. PATINTERO

5.1. JEEP MODERNIZATION

5.2. The game mechanics of patintero goes like this, there are two teams and their main objective is to cross the borders set by the other team. This can be closely related to economics and on Jeep modernization.

5.3. The borders in the game reflects the global competition that we are trying to reach and comply to. Yes, the issue is all about providing safety to both the driver and passenger however without proper aid from the government, it will not be as successful as imagined. The two teams signifies the drivers competing with the set global standards by the government.

5.4. Solution : The main solution to this issue is for the government to work hand in hand with DOTr and LTFRB and making the plans of jeep modernization feasible. They must provide a budget for the said issue, and not rely on the drivers because they do not have enough funds. Their minimum earning is from 500-600 pesos, this alone is not enough to fulfill their needs let alone buying a modernized jeepney.

6. LUKSONG BAKA

6.1. TRAIN LAW

6.2. The mechanics of the game is for the players to be able to jump over the "it" as the "baka" raises his position a bit higher for each level. The baka can be link to the privileged class of the society while the jumpers are those people under the lower class.

6.3. Train law and Luksong baka can be correlated to one another. The baka is the law that states that the prices of commodities will be higher. Despite of it lessening the taxes to be paid by the people, it will only worsen poverty and inequality. The rich will continue to be rich, hence they are also linked to the baka and the poor will struggle to be able to reach the top, they are the jumpers.

6.4. Solution : The government should not immediately approve the said law because it greatly affects the lower class. A suspension of additional tax to commodities should be done.
