Adam's Iceland Trip

1. Lodging and Food

1.1. Air BnB

1.2. The Air BnB Selected for this trip is an apartment in Reykjavic for around $850. This is not the cheapest but not the most expensive. It is a smaller space, but provides of view of the harbor and mountains around Reykjavic.

1.3. Plan for small meal in the mornings with lunch and dinner each day. Most lunches will be packed to save money. Air BnB will have kitchen and storage for food. Total food costs are going to be kept at a minimum ($25 per day when homecooking, and 25 per person is the average for dining out (two dinners and a lunch) so the total budget will be $300 to save on money)

1.3.1. Apotek Restaurant for Dinner in Reykjavic, Cafe Kvika for the Mayvatn Nature Baths and Bjargarsteinn Mathus for dinner near Kirkjufell Mountain

1.4. Lodging will be in Reikjavic for easier access to the airport, also a geographically good starting point for each day trip

2. Excursions and Day Trips

2.1. Hot spring hunting and Myvatan Nature Baths ($35/person) 12 Hr Round Trip (All day)

2.2. Strokkur Geyser (Free) 3 Hr Round Trip

2.3. Jockusarlon Glacier (Free) 8 Hr Round Trip (All Day)

2.4. Mountain Hiking (Free)

2.5. Kirkjufell Northern Lights (Free) 4 Hr Round Trip (Half Day w/ Mountain Hiking)

2.6. Day of Exploring Reykjavic (Free) Dinner and lunch in Reykjavic with museum visits all day.

3. Flights and Transportation

3.1. Vehicle Transport from Reykjavik

3.1.1. Jeep/Offroad Vehicle Rental from Global (Kayak) averages $400 for 6 days with gas for an SUV (Required for driving terrain). May change to five and schedule last full day in Reykjavic to save money.

3.2. Flights from Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York for a Saturday departure and Saturday return

3.2.1. Flight costs are not provided this early in advance, but when booking for a few months timeframe, it seems that this will cost around 900-1000 pp and be through Iceland Air

3.3. Day trip transportation from AirBNB to destinations.

3.3.1. This can be combined with the vehicle pickup at the airport, so no additional cost but gas for day trips.

4. Dates and Times

4.1. 7 Day trip (unguided)

4.2. 4 Hour time difference between Salisbury, MD and Reykjavic

4.3. Dates will be February 13th-February 20th of 2021 (To ensure safer travel and to schedule during the Northern Lights Season in Iceland)
