As long as people in the public eye do their job well, does it matter what they do in private?

1.1. I think that what people do in their private life does matter because it shows their character and this will lead to how well they do their job.

1.2.1. Public eye refers to public attention or notice. In this context, public eye can also mean being in the view of the public.

2. If the person, like a minister, does something wrong in private, it may be leeked out to the public.
2.1. The press may find out about some of the things that public figures do and this will be leaked out to the public.
2.2. This will affect the public's view of him and he may not be respected any more. He may also lose his job.
