1. Properties of Waves

1.1. Amplitude

1.1.1. - the maximum amount of displacement of a particle on the medium from its rest position

1.2. Period

1.2.1. - the time for a particle on a medium to make one complete oscillations

1.3. Frequency

1.3.1. - the number of waves that pass a fixed point in a given amount of time

1.4. Wavelength

1.4.1. - the distance over which the wave's shape repeats

2.1. Transverse

2.1.1. - a transverse wave is a moving wave which is when the oscillations are perpendicular to the direction of the wave

2.2. Longitudinal

2.2.1. - longitudinal waves are waves in which the displacement of the medium is in the same direction

3. Electromagnetic Spectrum

3.1. Radio Wave

3.1.1. (television, mobile phones and radios)

3.2. Infra-red

3.2.1. - electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than those of visible light

3.3. Microwaves

3.3.1. - an extremely high frequency radio waves, and are made by various types of transmitter

3.4. Light

3.4.1. - waves made of oscillating magnetic and electric fields; visible to the human eye

3.5. X-ray

3.5.1. - penetrating form of high-energy electromagnetic radiation; a wavelength ranging from 10pm to 10 nm

3.6. Ultra-violet

3.6.1. - form of electromagnetic radiation with wavelength from 10 nm; shorter than that of visible light but longer than X-rays.

3.7. Gamma ray

3.7.1. - a penetrating electromagnetic radiation arising from the radioactive decay of atomic nuclei

3.7.2. - it has the smallest wavelengths and the most energy of any wave in the electromagnetic spectrum

4.1. - a kind of disturbance or oscillation that travels through space and matter.

4.2. - wave motions transfer energy from one place to another.

5. Mechanical Wave

5.1. - a wave that is an oscillation of matter and is responsible for the transfer of energy through a medium
