Ancient Civilizations da Mind Map: Ancient Civilizations

1. My question would be, what flaws do you think these governments had, and what did they do well that has been carried into modern governments.

2. Indus

2.1. The first civilizations arose near rivers, this was because people could farm there. These rivers would often flood and leave behind rich soil so the people could grow more crops

2.2. WE havent yet figured out how to read the first writings of the Inddus people. This is because there are so few samples of writing, either because they were destroyed or they didnt write a lot to begin with.

2.3. The people of Idus were very organized. They used wieghts and balances and had well planned out cities. However there is no sign of religious worship or leadership even thought it is very clear that they had a strong central government.

2.4. The idus valley farmers built irrigation ditches so they could expand their farm land.

3. Shang

3.1. the original civilization surrounded the huang or yellow river. But the majority of china has many mountains and deserts.

3.2. The chinese originally wrote on orical bones (or carved into them) The chinese language today is spoken differently but all the symbals are the same.

3.3. In china they are ruled by a dynasty, one ruling family that rules for generations.

3.4. A unique attribute is that there were originally many villages brought together over time.

4. My question:

5. Sumeria

5.1. Sumeria Is occupied by many flat plainsand rivers. It is also near the persian gulf and Mediteranian sea.

5.2. Sumerian writing was originally developed to record the number of goods like fish, and it was more doodling or pictures than actual letters. People evetually realized how useful writing could be and priests developed a more broad writing call cueniform.

5.3. Sumeria was led by priests, not kings or monarchs. Eventually however, after conflicts started to break out war leaders began to rtake power.

5.4. When sumeria went to war they assigned a leader to oversee the army, Eventually those leaders refused to give up power and took over.

6. Egypt

6.1. Egypt was one of the first large civilizations because of the rich fertile soil. The core of egypts civilization was the nile river. Egypt cherished the river because it enabled them to grow crops and sustain life.

6.2. Egyptian and sumerian writing were developed at the same time, we dont know who started writing fis=rst. But we do know that egyptians use detailed pictures to communicate called hyroglyphics.

6.3. Egypt was a beuracrecy with many offices and people, they taxed farmers to keep their economy running. The leader however was a pharoh.

6.4. The people in egypt worshiped many gods but also worshipped the nile river because without it theyre civilization would die.
