1. Egypt

1.1. Like some other cities here, Egypt was home to one of the world’s first great civilizations. They used the Nile river resourcefully.

1.2. Ancient Egyptians developed early forms of writing by 3200 B.C.Egyptian writing used hieroglyphics, the only people who knew how to write though, were Scribes.

1.3. During the 3000s B.C., two kingdoms developed in Egypt. Legends say that Narmer united the two kingdoms in about 3000 B.C. He then became the first ever Pharaoh, or king.

2. Sumeria

2.1. The Sumeria lived inside of the borders created by the rivers. It is bordered by the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.

2.2. The Sumeria are thought to be the first ever people to write, it was used as symbols for organization of the city's food surplus. It was later named Cuneiform

2.3. The first leaders of Sumeria were priest, not kings. They were the people who created writing for the Sumeria people.

2.4. The first kings were later created because of war among the people.They had a military leader that decided not to step down once the war was over.

3. Huang

3.1. The people of Shang lived at the Huang river. Its river created a food surplus and was a great resource.

3.2. The Shang used oracle bones to record important events related to their questions.The Shang did not use an alphabet for their written words. Instead, some characters were Pictographs

3.3. The government of Shang was actually a dynasty. The shang dynasty was a strong government that had many soldiers. A dynasty is when the family is born into power and it is a chain of rulers all from the same family.

4. Indus

4.1. Indus was one of the first civilizations to pop up near rivers in India.The location was dry for most of the year, but when the river flooded, it left by rich soils.

4.2. Scholars have not yet understood the Indus writing and symbols. The reason for this is because there are too few samples of the writings.

4.3. The people of the Indus valley were well organized. They show an overwhelming amount of planning and organizing shown from the remains of the city
