2.1.1. MANY CHILDREN DURING THIS STAGE ARE UNABLE TO VISUALLY DETERMINE WHICH IS MORE/AMOUNTS DUE TO CENTRATION BECAUSE THEY FOCUS ON APPEARANCE, ONLY IF THEY COUNT WILL THEY COME TO THE CORRECT CONCLUSION.

2.2. SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

2.2.1. DURING PLAY, PRESCHOOLERS DEVELOP PHYSICALLY, COGNITIVELY, AND SOCIALLY; THEY ROLE PLAY, MAKE RULES, SOLVE CONFLICTS ALL OF THESE HELP THEM TO ESTABLISH FRIENDSHIPS.

2.3. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

2.3.1. PRESCHOOL CHILDREN ARE DISPLAYING GROSS AND FINE MOTOR DEVELOPMENT. THEY ARE LEARNING TO OPERATE TRICYCLES, BICYCLES, HOW TO THROW/CATCH, AND DRAWING/WRITING THEIR NAME.

3. MIDDLE CHILDHOOD

3.1. PHYSICAL-

3.1.1. CHILDREN BETWEEN 8-12 START TO PLAY ORGANIZED SPORTS AT THIS TIME AND THEIR MUSCLES ARE MORE COORDINATED.

3.2. COGNITVE

3.2.1. AT THIS STAGE, A CHILD IS ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT AN ITEM IS THE SAME AMOUNT EVEN IF IT'S SHAPE HAS CHANGED (CONCRETE OPERATIONAL), BUT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY.

3.3. SOCIO-EMOTIONAL

3.3.1. CHILDREN START TO SPEND TIME WITH OTHERS SIMULAR TO THEM, THEY DEVELOP TRUST (SECRETS), AND DEVELOP FRIENDSHIPS BASED ON LOYALTY.

4. INFANCY

4.1. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT-

4.1.1. IN THE FIRST 12 MONTHS, GROWTH IS AT A RAPID PACE, BUT SLOWS AFTER. DEVELOPMENT IS BASED ON FOUR PRINCIPLES, ONE OF WHICH IS SHOWN IN MY PICTURE. INFANTS LIFT UP HEAD, ROLL OVER, CRAWL, WALK (CEPHALOCAUDAL)

4.2. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

4.2.1. DURING THIS STAGE, INFANTS ARE MAKING STRIDES IN COGNITIVE GROWTH. THEY ARE IN A SENSE SCIENTISTS/EXPLORERS, TRYING DIFFERENT SCENARIOS AND DISCOVERING OBJECT PERMANENCE (SHOWN).

4.3. SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

4.3.1. DURING THIS STAGE OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT INFANTS ARE LEARNING THEIR SENSE OF SELF AND DISPLAYING ATTACHMENTS TO THEIR CAREGIVERS (AVOIDANT, SECURE, AMBIVALENT, DISORGANIZED) SHOWN ABOVE IS THE STRANGE SITUATION WHICH IS A WAY TO DETERMINE ATTACHMENT

5. ADOLESCENCE

5.1. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

5.1.1. TEENS ARE ABLE TO "THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX" (ABSTRACT- FORMAL OPERATION STAGE). ALSO, THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THEMSELVES AND THINK EVERYONE IS WATCHING THEM AND THEY ARE "ONE OF A KIND"

5.2. SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

5.2.1. CHILDREN ARE DISPLAYING AUTONOMY, THEY ASK FRIENDS FOR ADVICE, NOT ADULTS TYPICALLY. THEY COMPARE THEMSELVES TO FRIENDS, FIND CLIQUES/REFERENCE GROUPS THAT ARE SIMULAR AND START SPENDING TIME WITH OPPOSITE SEX.

5.3. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

5.3.1. DURING ADOLESCENCE, PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT IS RAPID. BOTH GIRLS AND BOYS CAN GROW SEVERAL INCHES AND POUNDS IN A YEAR. THEY UNDERGO PRIMARY (RE-PRODUCTION) AND SECONDARY (UNDERARM HAIR, BREASTS, ETC.)

6. EARLY ADULTHOOD

6.1. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

6.1.1. PEAK PHYSICAL FITNESS AND HEALTH ARE SHOWN IN THIS STAGE, BODYAND BRAIN ARE FULLY GROWN AND SENSES ARE SHARP

6.2. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

6.2.1. DURING THIS STAGE, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE DECIDING WHAT JOB TO TAKE, WHO TO MARRY, HOW MANY CHILDREN TO HAVE, ETC. (ACHIEVING STAGE)

6.3.1. MANY PEOPLE ATTEND COLLEGE, MEET A GIRL/BOY FRIEND, FALL IN LOVE, DEVELOPING INTIMATE RELATIONSHIPS (INTIMACY VS. ISOLATION

7. MIDDLE ADULTHOOD

7.1. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

7.1.1. DURING THIS STAGE MANY PEOPLE THINK THAT THEY CAN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING. STUDIES SHOW THAT MEMORY DOESN'T DECLINE, BUT PEOPLE INEFFECTIVELY STORE MEMORY FOR EASY RETRIEVAL. MNEMONICS (GETTING ORGANIZED, PAYING ATTENTION, VISUALIZING, REHEARSING, AND ENCODING.)

7.2. SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

7.2.1. MANY MIDDLE AGERS EXPERIENCE EMPTY NEST SYNDROME WHEN ALL OF THEIR CHILDREN HAVE MOVED OUT OF THE HOUSE. SOME PARENTS ARE OKAY WITH THIS TRANSITION, MOMS HAVE MORE TROUBLE DUE TO BEING THE PRIMARY CAREGIVER.

7.3. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

7.3.1. DURING MIDDLE AGE, WOMEN START TO TRANSITION, FEMALE CLIMACTERIC, AROUND AGE 45. APPROXIMATELY AT AGE 47-48, WOMEN GO THROUGH MENOPAUSE WHICH CAN BE ACCOMPANIED BY HOT FLASHES, NIGHT SWEATS AND DIZZINESS.

8. LATE ADULTHOOD

8.1. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

8.1.1. MANY OLDER PEOPLE ARE CHOOSING TO LEARN ABOUT NEW TECHNOLOGY. THIS NOT ONLY HELPS TO KEEP INFOMATION PROCESSING SHARP, BUT IT CONNECTS THIS GENERATION TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS MORE EASILY.

8.2. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

8.2.1. ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE IS ONE OF THE MANY PHYSICAL PROBLEMS THAT PEOPLE IN LATE ADULTHOOD FACE. "19% OF ADULTS 75-84 HAVE THIS DISORDER WHICH PRODUCES MEMORY LOSS AND CONFUSION."

8.3. SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

8.3.1. MANY PEOPLE IN LATE ADULTHOOD CHOOSE TO LIVE WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN.THEY ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE HELP AND ALSO RECEIVE (RECIPRICOL) WHICH GIVES THEM A SENSE OF BEING NEEDED.

9. DEATH & DYING

9.1. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

9.1.1. CHILDREN MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THE FINALITY OF DEATH UNTIL THEY REACH THE AGE OF 9. MY CHILDREN WERE 3, 6, & 7 WHEN THEIR DAD PASSED AWAY. IT WAS A DIFFICULT TIME BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T COMPREHEND "GONE FOREVER."

9.2. SOCIO-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

9.2.1. FUNERALS ARE A TIME FOR GOODBYES AND FOR SPENDING TIME WITH LOVED ONES THAT REMINICE ABOUT TIMES WITH THE DECEASED. HEARING STORIES ABOUT THEIR FATHER HELPED WITH THE GRIEVING PROCESS.

9.3. FOR MANY OLDER ADULTS, WHO ARE PHYSCIALLY DETERIORATING,THEY CAN COME TO TERMS WITH DEATH IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BUT FOR SOME YOUNG ADULTS WHO ARE IN THEIR PRIME, DEATH IS THE LAST THING ON THEIR MINDS.
