1. Albuterol
1.1. Salbutamol, Proventil, Ventolin
1.2. Beta-Adrenergic Agonist
1.3. Indications: alleviate acute bronchospasm
1.4. Contraindications: long term use, caution in diabetes, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, hypertension, hypokalemia, seizure disorders, or cardiac disease
1.5. inhaled aerosol (inhaler)
1.6. Notes: cats can be difficult to treat using the inhalant
2. Acetylcysteine
2.1. Mucomyst
2.2. Antidote, Mucolytic
2.3. Indications: mucolytic agent in the pulmonary tree, treatment for acetaminophen, xylitol, or phenol toxicity
2.4. Contraindications: hypersensitivity, asthma
2.5. Oral, IV
2.6. Notes: dilute prior to IV administration; use a 0.2 micron in-line filter if administering inhalation solution IV
