WAVES by Mind Map: WAVES

1. What is a wave?

1.1. Waves involve the transmission of energy and not the transmission of matter. In summary, a wave can be described as a disturbance that propagates through a medium, transporting energy from one place to another place without transporting matter.

2. Clasification of waves

2.1. Tre are three types to classify the waves

2.2. Longitudinal waves for example: A wave that moves in the direction of its propagation

2.3. Transvers waves for example: transverse waves include vibrations on a string and ripples on the surface of water.

3. types of waves

3.1. Mechanical waves for example: A sound wave is an example of a mechanical wave.

3.2. electromagnetic waves propagating (radiating) through space, carrying electromagnetic radiant energy

4. The main parts of a wave

4.1. Wave Crest: The highest part of a wave

4.2. Wave Trough: The lowest part of a wave.

4.3. Wave Height: The vertical distance between the wave trough and the wave crest.

4.4. Wave Length: The distance between two consecutive wave crests or between two consecutive wave troughs.
