2.1. The largest patch of mangroves in mainland Singapore are in Sungai buloh Wetland reserve which only covers a total estimated land area of 100 hectars

3. How do plants and animals adapt to environment in the mangroves

3.1. Two key adaptations they have are the ability to survive in waterlogged and anoxic (no oxygen) soil, and the ability to tolerate brackish waters. Some mangroves remove salt from brackish estuarine waters through ultra-filtration in their roots.
