1.1.1. When you are found your friends or groups of people, you are more likely to participate in drug use if everyone else is doing it.

1.2. Drug avalability

1.2.1. In today's society, drugs are more easily accessible. The more accessible they are, the more likely people are to use them.

2. Childhood

2.1. Not having a good relationship with parents/ gardian

2.1.1. When a child is developing, it is important that they are nurtured because if they are not, this can cause the child to act out and open the gate for drug use

2.2. Parents/ Guardians who are drug users

2.2.1. When a young child see's their parent/ guardian using drugs, it allows them to think drug use is okay.

2.3. Ineffective Parenting

2.3.1. When a parent does not handle a child the proper way, the child can become more susceptible to using drugs.

3. Genetics

3.1. Scientist have found that a certain gene sequence can make you more vulnerable to drug addiction.

4. Mental Health Disorders

4.1. Depression

4.1.1. When a person is depressed, it often leads the them finding ways to make themselves feel better. Often times, this is done by using drugs.

4.1.1.1. When medically diagnosed for depression, often times you will be prescribed medicine to help, this can become dangerous because you become dependent on that drug.

4.2. Anxiety

4.2.1. When a person has anxiety, they will use drugs to get relief from that anxious feeling.

5. The reason I arranged this mind map the way I did is because it helps me and hopefully other people understand the connections between the risk factors of drug abuse. It helps me to better understand the subject because of the way I color coordinated the chart. I know what goes with what and how everything connects. I did it this way because I thought this would be the easiest way to understand the subject.
