1. Resource Development and Planning

1.1. Resource Planning In India. A) Making of inventory of resources after the reason wise identification across the country. B) Making of the planning structure with appropriate technology, skill and institution. C) Matching of Resource Plan with Development plan, etc.

1.2. Conservation of Resources. Irrational consumption and over-utilisation of Resource may lead to Socio Economic and Enviormental Problems.

1.3. Land Resources Example Mountain (30%),Plateaus (27%) Plains and Islands (43%).

1.4. Development of Resources. Example: Depletion of Resources , Accumilation of Resources in only a few hands,Global Ecological crisis such as Global Warming, Ozone Layer Depletion.

2. Land of utilization

2.1. Forest. Land under Forest i.e. 22.78%

2.2. Land not Available for Cultivation. Barren and waste land, Land put to Non-Agricultural uses eg.Buildings,Roads,Factories,etc.

2.3. Other Uncultivated Land. Permanent pasteurs and Grazing Land,Land under miscellaneus Tree Crops Groves,Cultureable waste land.

2.4. Fallow Lands. Left without cultivation for one or less than one agricultural year, and left uncultivated for the past 1 to 5 agricultural years.

2.5. Net Sown Area. Area sown more than once in an agricultural year plus net sown area is known as Gross Cropped Area.

2.6. Land Use Pattern. Pattern of use of land depends on Climate,Topography type of soil,Population,Technology,Skill ,Population Density,Tradition,Capability, etc.

2.7. Land Degradation And Conversation Measures. There is about 130 million Hectares of Degraded land in India. Approximately (28%) Forest Degraded Area,56% is water eroded area and the rest is affected by Alkaline Deposits.

3. Types of Resources

3.1. On the basis of the status of Development

3.1.1. Stock. Materials which have the potential to satisfy human needs but human beings don't have the appropriate technology to access. For example Hydrogen cannot be used fully due to lack of technology.

3.1.2. Potential Resource. Example Wind and Solar Energy in Rajasthan and Gujrat.

3.1.3. Reserves. Resources which can be used for Future Requirements.

3.2. On the basis of Ownership

3.2.1. International Resources. The oceanic resources beyond 200 nautical miles of the Exclusive Economic Zone.

3.2.2. National Resource. All the resources that belong to the nation, i.e. Minerals,Water Resources,Wildlife,Land

3.2.3. Community Owned Resources. Example Village commons Grazing Grounds,Burrial Grouds,Village Ponds ,etc.

3.3. On the basis of Exhaustability.

3.3.1. Renewable Resources/Non Renewable Resource. Example Solar and Wind Energy,Water,Forest and Wildlife. Example Mineral and Fossils.

3.4. On the basis of Origin

3.4.1. Abiotic Resources. Composed of non living things.Example Rocks And Soil.

3.4.2. Biotic Resources. Obtained from biosphere,Have life. Example Human Beings,Flora and Fauna.

4. Soil as Resource

4.1. Soil Erosion and Soil Conversion. Removal Of top soil is called Soil Erosion.Intense farming,Grazing,Construction Activities and other Human Activities ;along with deforestrationhave led to Soil Erosion.Soil Conservation can be done by afforestration,Terrace Farming, etc.

4.2. Classification of Soil >Alluvial Soil>Black Soil>Red and Yellow Soil>Laterate Soil>Acid Soil>Forest Soil.
