Navigating mind maps

If you\'re viewing a mind map on a smartphone or tablet device, you can scroll through its full content by touching your screen and moving your finger in the direction you want to move.

If you\'re viewing it on a laptop or desktop computer, you can scroll through it by using your mouse or touch pad.

Zooming in and out on a map

You can increase or decrease the size of a mind map by touching or clicking on the plus (+) and minus (-) symbols in the upper left size of your screen.

Recentering your map on your screen

Sometimes when you\'re viewing a map, it disappears from view. This happens when your map has scrolled beyond the frame of your screen.

To recenter your map, touch on the small bullseye symbol in the upper left of your screen..

Viewing mind maps on smartphones

You can view a mind map on your smartphone.

But because of the relatively small screen size of smartphones, you\'re likely to find yourself scrolling a lot to view all the branches on an expanded map.

If you zoom out far enough to see an entire map, you may not be able to read the text.

When this happens, you\'ll likely prefer to view your map on a device with a bigger screen.

Expanding or collapsing topics

Mind maps offer the advantage of expanding and contracting the information they contain.

This capability enables you to skim and scan the information in the map.

When you see a topic with a small circle immediately to the left of it, the topic has subtopics beneath it.

If the subtopics are expanded (that is, they\'re visible on your screen), the small circle is empty.

If the subtopics are collapsed (not visible on your screen), the small circle has a black dot at its center.

Expanding a topic

To expand collapsed subtopics, click on the black dot at the center of the circle to the left of the topic.

Collapsing a topic

To collapse subtopics beneath a topic, click on the empty circle to the left of the topic.

Reading notes

Some topics contain notes. When a topic contains a note, an icon appears to the immediate right of the text in the topic box. You can read the note by touching this icon or by hovering over it with your mouse.

Viewing embedded links or attached files

Some topics contain embedded links or attached files.

When they do, you\'ll see the link in blue text and or a small icon for an attached file.

You can get access to the material in the URL or the file by touching the link or the icon or by clicking on them with your mouse.
