Animal Tissues by Mind Map: Animal Tissues

1. Epithelial Tissue

1.1. Squamous

1.1.1. Squamous Cells are extremely thin and flat and form a delicate lining. They are found in the skins of animal tissue which protects the body.

1.2. Stratified squamous

1.2.1. They have two or more layers to prevent wear and tear in the cell. They are in a pattern of layers, so they are called stratified squamous epithelial tissue.

1.3. Cuboidal

1.3.1. It forms the lining of kidney tubules and ducts of salivary glands, where it provides mechanical support.

1.4. Columnar (Cillated)

1.4.1. This columnar (meaning 'pillar-like') epithelium facilitates movement across the epithelial barrier. It also contains cillia.

2. Nervous Tissue

2.1. Nervous Tissue is made up of neurons that receive and conduct impulses.

3. Connective Tissue

3.1. Bones

3.1.1. It forms the framework that supports the body.

3.2. Blood

3.2.1. Blood has a fluid matrix called plasma, in which red blood cells and white blood cells and platelets are suspended.

3.3. Cartilage

3.3.1. This solid matrix is composed of proteins and sugars and it smoothens bone surfaces joints and is also present in the nose , ear, trachea and larynx

4. Muscular Tissue

4.1. Muscular tissues consists of elongated cells also called muscular fibres. It is responsible for movement in our body. It also contains special proteins called contractile proteins which contract and relax to cause movement.

4.2. Striated Muscular Tissues

4.3. Unstriated Muscular Tissues

4.4. Cardiac Muscular Tissues
