1.1.1. So the idea is, whitelighters is a meme -- nothing more.

1.1.1.1. It can simplify it if you imagine that it's a hyperlink; a hyperlink to all other potential thoughts & ideas -- any combination of information

1.1.1.1.1. This would make it a metameme -- a meme about a meme.

1.1.1.1.2. Ultimately, we want to spread reason, in the most broad way possible.

1.1.1.1.3. If we had to choose an idea to unite around, it would probably be evolution, or the larger umbrella philosophy that is "Universal Darwinism"

1.1.1.1.4. So we are a group of individuals, with no requirements or rules for membership, who are dedicated to "hijacking" the white lighters myth for our own goals

1.1.2. Obviously it's hard to have conversations in this format, but you can see how its a powerful tool for getting a lot of ideas out and then organizing them later?

1.1.2.1. Geb: Are you familiar with serial vs. parallel processing in computers?

1.1.2.1.1. Part of the WLRS "theory" is that we can use social media to create a hive mind / swarm intelligence like Anonymous, only you don't have to be anonymous or a computer hacker

1.1.2.1.2. Geb: Say we have 4 or 5 people working on this at once.

1.1.2.1.3. Serial processing involves doing calculations in a linear format, in other words, taking information in one bit at a time

1.1.2.1.4. Parallel processing involves processing multiple pieces of information at once.

1.1.2.2. Bill: Yes

1.1.3. Are there any believers involved with White Lighters?

1.1.3.1. Geb: Well where do you fall on the belief spectrum as of right now?

1.1.3.1.1. I would consider myself a skeptic.

1.1.3.2. We have a few who are open minded theists. There's this one Islamic girl named Farah & her friend that Alex Foster invited to the group.

1.1.3.3. The core as it is is primarily atheists, stoners, freethinkers, and people who like music. Not a bad mix of liberal & idealistic minds.

1.1.4. Is there a way to link the maps to other websites?

1.1.4.1. Geb: Yes, you see the control pane on the right side?

1.1.4.2. Theres tabs for notes, links, files, and tasks, in addition to being able to upload images

1.1.4.3. I got an account before they upgraded, so I might be the only one who's able to upload images, but thats not really important anyway

1.1.4.4. Yeah, I linked the facebook page... I don't know if you wanted to do that, but I'm trying it out.

7. What is WhiteLighters?

7.1. This irony would only be a tribute to the validity of memetics, as it supports the theory that memes are essentially thought contagions; i.e. viruses of the mind.

7.2. Our ultimate goal is to create an evolving network of people that is not chained down by it's own ideas and ideals. This is an exercise in swarm intelligence, not unlike Anonymous

7.3. Though at the moment we are primarily atheists, we ultimately want to be considered a "freethought" group, so as to unify nonbelievers of all kinds

7.4. The name "WhiteLighter" comes from the superstition/urban legend/meme that all white lighters are considered to be extremely unlucky.

7.5. Though primarily an American superstition, it has spread around the world & seems to be accelerating in growth

7.6. Ironically, our efforts to debunk the white lighters myth has probably aided in the spread of the superstition.

7.7. WhiteLighters are a group of people trying to hijack the white lighters meme in the name of reason.

7.8. So the idea is, whitelighters is a meme -- nothing more.

7.9. It can simplify it if you imagine that it's a hyperlink; a hyperlink to all other potential thoughts & ideas -- any combination of information

7.9.1. This would make it a metameme -- a meme about a meme.

7.10. So we are a group of individuals, with no requirements or rules for membership, who are dedicated to "hijacking" the white lighters myth for our own goals

7.11. If we had to choose an idea to unite around, it would probably be evolution, or the larger umbrella philosophy that is "Universal Darwinism"

7.12. Ultimately, we want to spread reason, in the most broad way possible.
